SOUTHLAKE YOUTH SERVICE – Eyes Open Social Media Workshop
Southlake Community Services has engaged Brisbane-based company Eyes Open Social Media to present a Parent Information Session, on the important topic of social media awareness and cyber safety.
As a parent, you want to make sure your child is safe when they are engaged in online activities. Eyes Open Social Media understands that social networking is not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. It is also happening while your children are playing online games such as Minecraft and Roblox.
It can be challenging for a parent to keep up with ever-changing technology and your child may be more internet savvy than you. Even so, they may not be aware of the dangers and possible risks involved with networking online and what easy precautions they should take to limit the risks.
This presentation features current examples from Australian students, found with public information on social networking sites, and is designed to assist parents to understand:
• The dangers associated with children’s unmonitored use of social networking sites;
• How your profile, as a parent, could be endangering your child; and
• Simple steps you can take to help protect your child.
A Parent Information Session will be held on Thursday 10th August from 10am to 11:30am at 143 Dora St Morisset.
Morning Tea will be provided.
