PROGRAMMING AND SERVICES
Southlake Youth Service currently offers the following programs and services for young people predominantly aged between 12 and 24, and their families:
Providing one-on-one support in the form of advice, information, specialist referral and advocacy.
Parenting Programs
Focused on capacity-building, relationship-building, effective communication and emotional regulation. Programs include ‘Engaging Adolescents’ and ‘Tuning In to Kids’.
Mental Health Awareness Courses
Courses include: SafeTALK Suicide Prevention and Awareness, Mental Health First Aid and Teen Mental Health First Aid.
Junior Top Blokes Mentoring Program
16-week strengths-based personal development program, aimed at harm minimisation.
The Wholesome Collective’s Food and Nutrition Program
4-week cooking program that builds capacity of young people and their parent/carer, aiming to optimise nutritional knowledge and cooking skills, and overcome social, medical and financial barriers to good health.
Supplying food packages for young people and families in the local area.
Breakfast Clubs
Supplying breakfast foods and other resources to local schools.
Rage and Scream
Anger management programs for boys and girls in Year 6 at local primary schools.
Rock and Water
A 6-week program providing young people and adults a pathway to self-awareness, and increased self-confidence and social functioning.
Youth Week Events
Once a year we transport a group of up to 20 young people to the RAW Challenge at Doyalson, where they complete obstacles and other physical challenges, building their problem-solving skills, communication skills and mateship.
